The Bend Motorsport Park will host the opening round of Enduro Cup in the 2020 Supercars season.

Sam Shahin, the man behind the new $130 million park hosting The Bend SuperSprint this weekend, confirmed Tailem Bend would become an endurance event next year.

In the Supercars season, there are three endurance rounds which are longer races and worth double the points – the Bathurst 1000, Sandown 500 and Gold Coast 600.

With the Supercars Commission meeting this week to discuss the 2020 calendar, it is believed Sandown will become a SuperSprint event.

Tailem Bend will likely move into the September slot and become the warm-up event for Bathurst.

« The evolution of The Bend just right before our eyes is just a thrill to be a part of, and just beautiful to see. I’m just thrilled, » Shahin said.

« It was a paddock, and now look at the transformation in two years. I mean, this could be anywhere in the world – it’s just so exciting, and great racing.

« We can certainly, 100 per cent confirm that we will be part of the endurance rounds next year and that’s a big feather in The Bend’s cap. I’m absolutely thrilled. »

It’s anticipated the 2020 Supercars calendar will undergo several changes and likely move to a 14-race schedule.

It is understood Phillip Island, Winton and Ipswich are vulnerable to the axe, while the popular SuperNight in Sydney, trialled in 2018, is expected to return.
